Trying to Lower Your Cholesterol?

Experts Agree This Is the #1 Thing to Limit

This article argues that if you’re looking to lower your cholesterol, the top thing to cut back on is saturated fat. Foods high in saturated fat (like red meat, butter, cheese, fried foods, and many baked goods) are strongly linked with increased LDL (the “bad”) cholesterol and higher cardiovascular risk. Health experts recommend limiting saturated fat to no more than 6‑10% of daily calories depending on your heart‑health profile.

On the flip side, the piece doesn’t just address foods to “avoid”, it gives what to add in instead. Swapping saturated fats for healthier fats (think fatty fish, nuts, avocados), increasing soluble fiber (beans, oats, lentils), and emphasizing whole‑grains helps. Small changes like these can make a big difference and are often a solid first step before, or alongside, more intensive interventions (including medication) especially when genetics play a role.

The 3 Best Ways to Maintain Your Muscle Mass to Live Longer,

According to Dietitians

Want to Live Longer? Keep Your Muscle Mass Up
We lose muscle naturally as we age, but that doesn’t mean we should sit back and let that happen. This article shares three key ways to protect muscle mass, which is essential not just for strength and mobility, but for metabolism, immunity, and overall longevity.

Here’s the short list:
Prioritize protein — and don’t just load it at dinner. Aim for consistent intake throughout the day from both plant and animal sources.
Move more — daily movement, even walking, helps preserve what you’ve got.
Strength train — lifting weights (or even bodyweight exercises) 2–3 times a week can prevent the steepest muscle declines.

A bonus tip? Don’t skimp on calories or sleep — both are crucial for recovery and muscle maintenance.

The advice you're missing about your pre-workout

Pre‑workout supplements are designed to give you a boost before exercise professing you'd have more energy, sharper focus, possibly better endurance or power during hard workouts. Most formulas include things like caffeine (which is the main driver of the “alert + pumped” feeling), amino acids, creatine, maybe beta‑alanine.

But it’s not all win. Here are the trade‑offs: many pre‑workouts are proprietary blends, which means you often don’t know exactly how much of each ingredient you’re getting. Supplements are not regulated the same way food is. That makes it hard to judge risk or benefit. High caffeine or other stimulants can lead to side effects: jitters, sleep disruption, elevated heart rate or blood pressure, maybe digestive upset. Also, because supplements aren’t tightly regulated, there’s risk of mislabeling, unlisted ingredients, or quality inconsistency.
